Our FAA Certificated Drone Pilot & Founder
John is a life-long resident of the Pacific Northwest, with a life-long interest in flight, electronics, and aerospace. After a childhood of free flight model aeronautics with his father, John began piloting drones with the Parrot AR Drone in 2010. He moved to the DJI Phantom 1 in 2013, and the Phantom 4 Pro in 2017. Originally focusing on recreational flight with his drones, John now owns and operates Airworks Imagery, LLC to provide a broad range of commercial aerial photography services.
Aerospace Industry Experience
John was employed by the aerospace manufacturer, Boeing, for over forty years until 2017. His work began in electronics technology and large aircraft avionics. Most of his career was focused in the Quality Assurance discipline, providing project management support to many different Military Commercial Derivative Aircraft (MCDA) programs such as the Airborne Optical Adjunct, E-3 Airborne Warning and Control System, E-7 Airborne Early Warning & Control System, P-8 Poseidon, and KC-46 Pegasus. These programs supported US DoD customers, as well as international customers in Australia, Turkey, South Korea, Japan, India, France, and the countries comprising the NATO alliance.
A Deep Appreciation For Aviation Safety & Reliability
While working on MCDA programs and under Boeing’s FAA-certificated Repair Station, John built extensive knowledge in the FAA’s MCDA type-certification process, as well as large aircraft modification, maintenance and operations processes. In addition to working with local FAA offices, John was required to travel extensively overseas to also interface with international aviation authorities. Being responsible for overseeing MCDA modification, maintenance, and flight release gave (and continues to give) John a deep appreciation for aviation safety and reliability.
